The Edale Skyline Completed

On Sunday 1st October 2023, ten Poultec Training staff members took on a very wet 20 mile walk in the Peak District. The route took them on a high-level adventure across several peaks around the vast and impressive Edale Skyline. They experienced some spectacular views in some torrential rain which at points become more of the challenge over the 1,100m climb.

As 80% of the walk was rain this really tested lots of the challengers ‘I will pay for a helicopter out of this place in a minute’ said a very cold and wet Harry. Despite the hideous weather conditions, the team powered on through and summitted Brown Knoll, Mam Tor, Back Tor, Lose Hill and Win Hill all within 10 hours. ’It was more mentally challenging than physically challenging especially with the weather but we all managed to complete, this great achievement!’ says Dianne.

Each participate signed up for this challenge in honour of family members, friends and colleagues who have had or who are currently going through breast cancer treatment. Induvial and a group fundraising pages were set up and collectively an impressive £860 was raised. We are so grateful for all the donations and know this will help Little Lifts. Little Lifts provides breast cancer patients with free, thoughtfully curated Little Lifts gift boxes when they’re receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment. ’I couldn’t help but feel privileged and grateful for the all the laughs and beautiful views this walk gave me and knowing it was all to help cancer patients make all the soggy clothes worth it.’ states Georgia

We do lots of fundraising and staff social events throughout the year but this year walking has defiantly been the most popular fundraiser. After several completed the Yorkshire 3 Peak Challenge back in May they got the walking challenge bug and asked to take on another in aid of Little Lifts. What will be the next challenge?...watch this space.

We’d like to thank Little Lifts, who have been so supportive, appreciative and kind as always.
