Poultec Learner Awards 2019
Poultec Training held their annual Learner Awards ceremony on Wednesday 24th July at their headquarters at South Green Park, Mattishall. A total of sixty nominees were nominated by their tutors and presented with framed certificates at the ceremony. These nominees were chosen because their tutors end employers believe they have excelled in their Apprenticeship / training programme and overcome barriers in order to achieve their qualification.
The Awards ceremony consisted of 15 categories representing each of the areas that Poultec delivers. Edward Bales, Managing Director presented trophies, which were produced by Poultec Training’s engineering students to the winner of each category.
Edward Bales welcomed all nominees, employers and guests to the Awards and highlighted the excellent standard of nominees this year.
Sally Shute of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital won the Apprentice of the Year Award; an award selected by the panel of judges from all category winners. Sally’s manager, Jennifer Johnson, said in her case study, “She is a hard working member of the team and she has grown in confidence since she began. Sally is a great asset to the team and is very deserving of this award.” Well done Sally, keep up the fantastic work!
They were joined by two guest speakers who come from the companies that Poultec work closely with. Kath Morrison, Senior People Development Partner of Avara Foods spoke about how she worked with Poultec in changing over from Apprenticeship frameworks to Apprenticeship standards. She also mentioned how important it is for employers to be involved in the process and how it needs to fit all the business models and be fit for purpose.
Ann Basey-Fisher who is a director of Century Logistics also spoke about how taking on Apprentices in their business and seeing them learn and grow is very rewarding. Ann says, “Having a wide variety of apprenticeship training courses allows us to be flexible with the development of our employees and offers opportunities and a variety of fulfilling roles.”
“We had used Poultec in the past and it was to them we turned to again to help set up our training requirements. They have helped by tailoring courses to meet our warehousing, customer care or administration requirements. They are always there when things go awry as they always do, with advice and support and their vast experience is a huge plus.”
The ceremony held in South Green Park’s renowned Enterprise Suite, was attended by over 120 guests who enjoyed a buffet lunch prepared by South Green Park and afternoon tea prepared by Poultec’s hospitality and catering students.
Edward closed the ceremony by congratulating all the learners who had been nominated, thanking all the employers and guests for attending to support their employees and thanking the team at Poultec Training for all their hard work throughout the past year.
