About the programme

Our Engineering Study Programmes are designed for 16–18-year-olds ready to take the first step into a hands-on, rewarding career. Whether you’re interested in Engineering Operations, Vehicle Maintenance, or Welding & Fabrication, our courses give you the practical skills, technical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to progress onto higher-level training, apprenticeships, or employment.
 
With expert tutors, industry-style training environments and recognised qualifications, we’ll help you build a strong foundation for a successful future in engineering.

Study Programmes

Level 1 Certificate in Welding and Fabrication (City & Guilds)
Starting September 2025

This course is designed for 16–18-year-olds with no previous experience who are looking to kickstart a career in welding and fabrication. You’ll gain essential skills and knowledge using MIG, TIG, oxy-gas, and thermal cutting equipment, while developing techniques in welding, brazing, soldering, metal fabrication, and more.

What are the benefits?
Entry requirements:

You must be between the ages of 16-18. There are no formal academic entry requirements; however, an initial selection interview is mandatory.

Level 1 Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance (City & Guilds)
Starting September 2025

This course for 16–18-year-olds is the perfect introduction to the vehicle maintenance industry. You’ll develop essential skills through practical tasks such as routine maintenance, tyre repair and replacement, and the removal and replacement of light vehicle engine, electrical, and chassis components.

What are the benefits?
Entry requirements:

You must be between the ages of 16-18. There are no formal academic entry requirements; however, an initial selection interview is mandatory.

Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations (City & Guilds)
Starting September 2025

This engineering course for 16-18-year-olds is the perfect starting point for aspiring engineers. You will gain essential skills/knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and maintenance engineering. You will learn to work safely, use technical information, confidently use hand and power tools, carry out fitting, assembling, and machining.

What are the benefits?
Entry requirements:

You must be between the ages of 16-18. There are no formal academic entry requirements; however, an initial selection interview is mandatory.

Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles (City & Guilds)
Starting September 2025

This engineering course for 16–18-year-olds is ideal for those ready to take the next step in their automotive training. You’ll explore mechanical theory while developing practical skills in routine maintenance, fabrication, and the removal and replacement of light vehicle chassis components.

What are the benefits?

You must be between the ages of 16-18. There are no formal academic entry requirements; however, an initial selection interview is mandatory.
