Managers and team leaders oversee one or more employees or departments to make sure they carry out assigned duties as required. It’s up to them to make the most of company resources (products, people, money, time) in order to keep the wheels turning and generate a profit. Managers need a good understanding of business strategy to make smart decisions. It’s a big job involving many tasks, motivating employees to reach their potential and creating a strong corporate culture so that people will want to work for the company.
As a management apprentice your role will vary depending on the level and sector in which you are employed. You may be involved in planning, allocating and monitoring the work of the team, giving feedback, briefing teams, supporting team members, managing conflict, resolving problems, procuring supplies, project management, agreeing budgets and managing and improving customer service. You will need to be sensitive to issues such as ethnicity, culture, gender and disability, and be aware of the potential for different and more creative approaches that diversity in general brings.
Level 3 Management Apprenticeship
This Apprenticeship is ideal for those taking the first steps or have limited experience in management. Managers completing this Apprenticeship have either operational or project responsibilities or the responsibility for managing a team. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. They’ll likely have job titles like Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift Manager. This qualification is flexible and is tailored specifically to the needs of the employer. Apprentices will complete an ILM Level 3 Diploma for Managers.
Level 5 Management Apprenticeship
This Apprenticeship is suited to a manager who is responsible for everything from creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, to managing change, financial and resource management. Roles may include those of Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager as well as other specialist managers. This qualification is flexible and is tailored specifically to the needs of the employer. Apprentices will complete an ILM Level 5 Diploma for Leaders and Managers
