Poultec Training was proud to sponsor the Unsung Hero Award at the Norfolk Rural Business Awards 2025, held during the Royal Norfolk Show. This meaningful category recognises individuals who go above and beyond to make a positive impact in Norfolk’s rural communities – often without recognition or reward.
The Unsung Hero Award shines a spotlight on those who have:
• Supported local communities with time, care or resources
• Shown outstanding dedication to local causes
• Delivered economic, social or environmental benefits behind the scenes
• Strengthened Norfolk’s rural economy through innovation or generosity
As a training provider for the food and drink industry, it was great to see this year’s award went to David Holliday of Moon Gazer Ales, a passionate brewer and community advocate. David’s business model reflects his values – when pub trade slows, he offers his ales at a reduced price to help landlords maintain margins. He even gives them the choice to donate the extra income to the testicular cancer charity It’s On The Ball, which he actively supports.
David also sources his ingredients locally wherever possible, supporting Norfolk’s agricultural economy while crafting quality ales. His dedication to both the local community and rural enterprise makes him a true unsung hero.
Poultec would also like to congratulate the runners-up:
Ben Eagle of Rural Pod Media and Neal Sands of Sands Agricultural Machinery, whose contributions to rural Norfolk continue to make a real difference.
“Supporting this category was an easy choice for Poultec,” said Edward Bales, Managing Director. “As an apprenticeship and training provider rooted in Norfolk’s rural economy, we believe in recognising those who uplift others and drive positive change.”
At Poultec, we’re proud to support rural businesses with high-quality, government-funded apprenticeships – learn more about our training programmes [here].
