Poultec Training nominated seven of their 400 Poultry Production learners for the Zoetis / British Poultry Council’s Trainee of the Year, of which three have been confirmed as the finalists. The three finalists are Sean Harrison from Faccenda, Chloe Carter from Cargill Meats Europe and Kristine Libiete from Hook2Sisters.
The Award offers a £2,000 training grant from Zoetis, as well as a £500 cash prize from Poultry World and a commemorative plaque, which will be presented at the House of Commons on Tuesday 6th December.
Nathan Raines, Associate Director – Agriculture and Manufacturing said “I would like to congratulate the three finalists for reaching this stage of the competition. It is very pleasing to see the quality of the young people progressing within the industry which can only be a positive for the sector. These three learners in particular have demonstrated their willingness to learn and develop their skills throughout their training programmes and have been recognised by their Poultec Assessor for the effort they have shown.”
All finalists have recently completed an Apprenticeship training programme in just over a year which involved the delivery of training by both the employer and training provider. The training has enabled all finalists to gain a nationally recognised qualification, in this case the Diploma in Work-based Agriculture, as well as Functional Skills in Maths and English. The Apprenticeship was tailored to each finalist’s workplace to ensure that the skills they developed were relevant to their employment.
