Poultec’s IT vehicle provides a truly mobile IT suite containing high specification laptops for ten people and a tutor. The high-speed broadband connection and generated power supply enables training to be delivered in any location.

Description – This Apprenticeship is suitable for anyone either in full-time employment, or progressing from a Level 1 or those who are able to start a qualification at Level 2. The Apprenticeship is assessed within the workplace; for each unit, your assessor will observe and ask questions as you perform a task, or look at your portfolio work as formal evidence of your learning. Set assignments for each unit and mandatory tests are given as part of the Apprenticeship.

Content – The qualification includes the following framework:

  • Level 2 Diploma for IT Users
  • Level 1 Functional Skills Maths and English
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Employee Rights & Responsibilities

Duration – 12-18 months

Progression – Advanced Apprenticeship for IT Users

Description – This Apprenticeship is suitable for anyone either in full-time employment, or progressing from a Level 2. The Apprenticeship is assessed within the workplace; for each unit, your assessor will observe and ask questions as you perform a task, or look at your portfolio work as formal evidence of your learning. Description – This NVQ is designed for those with little or no experience with IT, wanting to gain knowledge that could result in progression to further education or employment. It provides basic skills that could lead to further education in IT or related areas, as well as other educational sectors. It will allow the learner to operate information and communication software or hardware with knowledge and understanding, with more detailed required answers and evidence.

Content – The qualification includes the following mandatory units:

  • Improving productivity using IT
  • Understanding the potential of IT
  • Developing personal and team effectiveness using IT

Optional units include:

  • Using email
  • IT Security for users
  • Personal information management software
  • Bespoke software
  • Desktop publishing software
  • Word processing software

Progression – Level 3 NVQ Diploma for IT Users

Description – This NVQ is designed for those who work or want to work within the IT industry. It provides skills and knowledge to progress further within education in IT or related areas, as well as other educational sectors. It will allow the learner to operate information and communication software or hardware with knowledge and understanding, with more detailed required answers and evidence. It can offer candidates moving into their first job roles the confidence to work effectively with ICT and deal with tasks that are straightforward or routine.

Content – The qualification includes the following mandatory units:

  • Improving productivity using IT
  • Understanding the potential of IT
  • Developing personal and team effectiveness using IT
