Apprenticeship in Food Manufacture (Butchery Retail Skills)
The Intermediate Apprenticeship in Food and Drink (Meat and Poultry) comprises of:
- FDQ Level 2 Certificate for Proficiency in Meat & Poultry Industry Skills (QCF)
- Key Skills level 1 in Application of number and Communication*
- PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills)
*If recent GCSE qualifications include Maths and/or English at level C or above, these can be used as concessions in place of taking the Key skill qualification.
Delivery of the Apprenticeship comprises of monthly work-placed assessments, which measure the competence and knowledge of the learner carrying out the daily tasks. Learners are offered the opportunity, as part of their Apprenticeship to attend monthly practical half-day workshops with Poultec’s Master Butcher. These courses cover a different topic each month ranging from poultry dressing to use of Offal.
