ILM VRQ Level 2 Award in Team Leading

Introduction to course / Course Content: This Institute of Leadership and Management qualification is aimed at giving a foundation for formal development in Team Leading to those individuals who are part of a team but have some control over it, or to those people in whom a potential Team Leader has been identified. They are different from Line Managers in that they tend to focus on the day to day performance of the team and its members and this course develops their basic skills and knowledge required develop into effective Team Leaders.

Who the course is aimed at? / Skill level: The course is aimed at those individuals who are in a Team Leading position or who are working towards that position

How is the course delivered? Classroom based with activities to build on the theory with up to 15 candidates from different sectors and businesses who will learn the about being a Team Leader. Three assignments are required and full support is offered to enable these to be completed.

How long is the course duration? 25 hours course completed over 8 weeks - each week 3.5 hour sessions (these will always at the same time each week).

To achieve a level 2 award the following units are taken. Developing you as a Team Leader, Workplace communication and Using information to Solve Problems.

ILM VRQ Level 3 Award in First Line Management

Introduction to course / Course Content: This Institute of Leadership and Management qualification is aimed at giving practicing or potential first line managers the foundation for formal development in this role. This is achieved by developing basic management skills and assisting participants in gaining the knowledge needed to be a first line manager. The course used various methods to meet the objectives including group and individual exercises, discussions and learning from the others on the course. There are no formal entry requirements but participants would be expected to be either practicing or aspiring first line managers and have literacy and numeracy skills to at least level 2 - although some support is available and managers are requested to speak to the ILM Programme Leader at Poultec Training Limited.

Who the course is aimed at? / Skill level: The course is aimed at those individuals who are in a Supervisory position or who are working towards that position

How is the course delivered? Classroom based with activities to build on the theory with up to 15 candidates from different sectors and businesses who will learn the about First Line Management. Four assignments are required and full support is offered to enable these to be completed.

How long is the course duration? 38 hours course completed over 11 weeks - each week with 3.5 hour sessions (these will always at the same time each week).

To achieve a level 3 award the following units are taken. Solving problems and making decisions, Achieving objectives through time management, Understanding the communication process in the workplace and Building the team.

ILM NVQ Level 2 in Team Leading and Management

Intro to course / Course Content: This NVQ is aimed at candidates who have a Team Leading responsibility within the workplace. The award consists of 4 mandatory units and a choice of 2 optional units from a list of 11. A training Needs Analysis is completed to assist in the selection of the optional units. NVQs enable the candidate to demonstrate their competency in the work place as effective team leaders.

Who the course is aimed at? / Skill level: The course is aimed at those individuals who are in a Supervisory position or in control of a large team.

How is the course delivered? Each qualification is delivered in the candidate's work place, they will be visited monthly by an occupationally competent assessor who will support and guide the candidate through the award.

How long is the course duration? The Level 2 awards can take up to 9 months.

To achieve a level 2 award the following units are taken. Manage your own resources, Provide leadership for your team, Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and Allocate and check work in your team.

A choice of 2 optional from the following selection including Provide learning opportunities for colleagues, Participate in meetings, Help team members address problems affecting their performance, Resolve customer service problems and Support Customer Service Improvements.

ILM NVQ Level 3 in Team Leading and Management

Introduction to course / Course Content: This NVQ is aimed at candidates who have a Supervisory responsibility within the workplace. The award consists of 4 mandatory units and a choice of 3 optional units from a list of 18. A Skills Scan is completed to assist in the selection of the optional units. NVQs enable the candidate to demonstrate their competency in the work place as effective supervisors.

Who the course is aimed at? / Skill level: The course is aimed at those individuals who are in a Supervisory/Management position or in control of a large team.

How is the course delivered? Each qualification is delivered in the candidate's work place, they will be visited monthly by an occupationally competent assessor who will support and guide the candidate through the award.

How long is the course duration? The Level 3 awards can take up to 12 months.

To achieve a level 3 award the following units are taken. Manage your own resources and professional development, Provide leadership in your area of responsibility, Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of responsibility and Ensure health and safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility.

A choice of 3 optional from the following selection including Promote equality of opportunity and diversity in your area of responsibility, Plan change, Implement change, Develop productive working relationships with colleagues, Recruit, select and keep colleagues, Build and manage teams, Lead meetings, Manage a budget, Manage the environmental impact of your work, Take effective decisions, Communicate information and knowledge, Manage a project and Work with others to improve customer service.

NVQ Level 4 in Team Leading and Management

Introduction to course / Course Content: This NVQ is aimed at candidates who have a Senior Supervisory responsibility within the workplace. The award consists of 4 mandatory units and a choice of 3 optional units from a list of 22. A Skills Scan is completed to assist in the selection of the optional units. NVQs enable the candidate to demonstrate their competency in the work place as effective supervisors.

Who the course is aimed at? / Skill level: The course is aimed at those individuals who are in a Supervisory/Management position or in control of a large team.

How is the course delivered? Each qualification is delivered in the candidate's work place, they will be visited monthly by an occupationally competent assessor who will support and guide the candidate through the award.

How long is the course duration? The Level 4 award can take up to 18 months.

To achieve a level 4 award the following units are taken. Develop and Implement operational plans for your area of responsibility, Encourage innovation in your area of responsibility, Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, Ensure health and safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility and Managing the business processes.

A choice of 3 optional from the following selection including Manage your own resources and professional development, Provide leadership in your area of responsibility,

Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements, Promote equality of opportunity and diversity in your area of responsibility, Lead change, Plan change, Implement change, Reduce and manage conflict in your team, Lead meetings, Manage finance for your area of responsibility, Manage physical resources, Manage the environmental impact of your work, Take effective decisions, Manage a project, Work with others to improve customer service, Build your organisation’s understanding of its market and customers and Manage the achievement of customer satisfaction.

Apprenticeship in Team Leading and Management

Introduction to course / Course Content: Most of the time you have to make a choice between studying for a qualification and having a job. With Apprenticeships you get the best of both worlds-a paid job and a training programme that leads to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships are a combination of three qualifications; a theory based course (usually a progression award), an NVQ, and Key Skills. Apprentices will develop knowledge and skills specific to their employer and the products/services they offer.

How is the course delivered? Each qualification is delivered in the candidate's work place, they will be visited monthly by an occupationally competent assessor who will support and guide the candidate through the award.
