All our ILM programmes are delivered by tutors who hold relevant

All learning sessions will have clearly defined learning outcomes which are linked back to the programme content laid down by ILM.

To achieve this award you must complete:

A level 2 NVQ in Team Leading

A Level 2 Introductory Certificate in Team Leading
Key skills – Level 1 Application of Number and Level 2 Communication

NVQ Mandatory Units
Manage your own resources
Provide leadership for your team
Develop productive working relationships
Ensure your own actions reduce the risk to health and safety

Optional Units (chose any 2)
Encourage innovation in your team
Allocate and check work in your team
Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
Resolve customer service problems

About the Course


Who is it for?
A practising team leader or supervisor:

  • Whose work involves the application of knowledge and skills in a significant range of varied work activities, performed in a variety of contexts, and some of which are complex or non-routine.
  • Who has some degree of personal autonomy and responsibility.
  • Who collaborates with others through membership of a team.

What does it entail?
6 units need to be completed of which 4 are mandatory and 2 are chosen from the optional list.

7 units need to be completed of which 4 are mandatory and 3 are chosen from the optional list.

Using normal NVQ methods of
observations, witness statements,
evidence of work, personal
statements, policy documents and
photographs

8 units need to be completed of which 5 are mandatory and 3 are choices from the optional list

About the Course
The Introductory Certificate in Team Leading offers an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed by team leaders to deal with some of the key issues which the team leader has to manage. It also has advantages for employees who may move into a team leader position in the future.

The programme has two primary objectives:

  • To assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge required by a team leader
  • To develop basic team leading skills
  • Programme Structure
  • The Introductory Award requires a minimum of over seven weeks of tutor led study. To achieve the Award participants must meet the following requirements:

Attend a short induction

Attend and successfully complete the segment ''The Role of the Team Leader'' plus five further segments (min of 1 from each module)

Achieve a pass mark in a short test (1 hour)

About the Course
The Introductory Certificate in First Line Management offers an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed by managers to deal with some of the key issues within the working environment. It is also useful for employees who may move into a managerial position in the future.

The programme has two primary objectives:

  • To assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge required by a manager
  • To develop basic management skills

Programme Structure
The Introductory Award requires a minimum of 34 hours of tutor led study. To achieve the Award participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Attend a short induction
  • Complete 4 segment reviews
  • Complete a work based assignment
  • Attend and successfully complete the following 10 segments
