Hospitality and Catering

If you have the appetite, then we have the ingredients for success. Our dedicated assessors can visit learners at their place of work and carry out work based assessments to increase productivity to the employer and employees.

The learners will also be given the opportunity to attend a range of short courses in support of their qualification. These short courses will be held at our state of the art training centre in Mattishall, on a monthly basis. This will give our learners a great opportunity to develop their on and off job practical experience, skills and knowledge through planning, preparing and cooking a range of popular dishes.

NVQ Level 2 Food and Drink

This qualification is aimed at all staff who are involved in the delivery of Food and Drink in the hospitality and catering environment. The qualification will last from six months to a year and in most cases it is fully funded. The qualification is work based and our experienced assessors will visit the business on a monthly basis.

The course ingredients
The qualification consists of 8 units. The 4 mandatory units are:
Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure
working environment.
Contribute to effective teamwork.
Give customers a positive impression
of yourself and your organisation.
Maintain food safety when storing,
holding and serving food.

Optional units can be selected to suit your own job role.

NVQ Level 2 in Food Processing and Cooking

The qualification is suitable for any existing or new employees wishing for a career in the Hospitality industry. This is a professional qualification to assist staff develop skills who prepare and cook food in any catering outlet.

The course Ingredients
The qualification consists of 11 units. The 3 mandatory units are:

  • Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure
    working environment.
  • Contribute to effective teamwork.
  • Maintain food safety when storing,
    preparing and cooking food.

You are then able to select 8 additional units from a total of 30. These units range from Preparing and cooking cakes, scones and biscuits to Preparing, cooking and finishing pasta dishes and many more.

NVQ Level 2 Front Office

This course is for people working in hotel, leisure, catering or residential outlets involved in front office/reception duties. The course last 6 - 9 months.

NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping

This course is suitable for any existing or new employees working within the Hospitality industry and involved in any aspect of cleaning and housekeeping activities.

The course ingredients
This qualification comprises of 8 units. The 4 mandatory units are:

  • Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment.
  • Contribute to effective teamwork.
  • Clean and service a range of areas.
  • Work using different chemicals and equipment.

You are then able to choose a further 4 units from a total of 9. These units range from Cleaning carpets and soft furnishings to Collect linen and make beds.

NVQ Level 2 Drink Service

This course is aimed at persons aged over 18 years and wishing to develop skills in bar service.

NVQ Level 2 Hospitality Multi-skilled

This qualification is aimed at staff that work in a variety of areas. This may often be in a smaller hotel or a youth hostel, for example. The qualification is a combination of 9 units and lasts between 6 months and a year. Our experienced assessors will visit you in the workplace and usually this course is fully funded.

The course ingredients
This qualification can be a combination of Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Drink and Food Processing. The mandatory units are:

  • Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment.
  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation.

The other seven units can then be picked from the other qualifications to suit your own job role.

NVQ Level 3 Hospitality Supervision

This qualification is aimed at supervisors and team leaders. To achieve this you must be in a supervisory role, i.e. monitoring colleagues and organising the day to day running of the establishment or a department within it.
This qualification lasts between 12 and 18 months and is usually funded. Our experienced assessors
will visit you in the workplace regularly to gain the evidence required.
This qualification is a great way of progressing naturally and developing skills on and off job.

The course ingredients
To achieve this qualification 8 units must be completed. The five mandatory units are:

  • Supervise the work of staff.
  • Establish and develop positive working relationships in hospitality.
  • Contribute to the control of resources.
  • Maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment.
  • Manage Yourself.

A further 3 units must then be chosen from a total of 23.

These units range from Supervising a function to Contributing to promoting hospitality services and products.
