Poultec Training specialises in the delivery of high quality NVQs throughout the UK. Staff training in the poultry industry is now a requirement not only from quality assurance schemes, but also by law therefore Poultec have developed a range of courses to meet the industries needs.

Our NVQ’s are all delivered in the workplace to minimise disruption and assessments are conducted on a monthly basis by industry competent assessors. Both our short courses and NVQs utilise our own tailor made material. We pride ourselves on the flexible approach we have to delivery to meet our customer’s needs.

LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION (POULTRY) APPRENTICESHIP


About the Course

To achieve your Apprenticeship you must complete the following framework components;

  • NVQ Livestock Production (Poultry) Level 2
  • Key Skills -
    Application of Number level 1,
    Communication level 1,
    Information Technology Level 1
  • 1 Day First Aid
  • 1 other short course e.g Foundation Health and Safety / Poultry Welfare etc



Who is the course for?

Apprenticeship - Poultry Production is a course designed for those people working at a technical level i.e. stockmen / hatchery workers. It requires proven competence in a range of routine work activities. Some of the activities are non-routine and some require individual responsibility as well as teamwork.

LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION (POULTRY) NVQ LEVEL 2


About the Course
The NVQ level 2 in Livestock Production (poultry) is aimed at anybody working at a stockperson level either on a poultry farm or in a hatchery.
The course consists of 10 units, five of which are mandatory and five optional (chosen to cover your own particular area e.g broiler, breeder laying, rearing, commercial laying or hatchery).
Poultec deliver the course on the candidates’ site in the form of direct assessment, and other evidence is collected such as projects, questions and digital photographs.

Areas covered include;

  • Health and Safety
  • Hygiene and biosecurity
  • Welfare of Livestock
  • Feed and Water
  • Brood and grow young birds
  • Receive and select eggs
  • Hatch and despatch poultry
  • Load and unload poultry
  • Collect and Grade eggs

This course is designed to be an introduction to poultry welfare aimed at workers in the poultry industry who have no previous welfare training or are new into the job.

The course is applicable to Broiler, Breeder, Hatchery and
commercial layer workers and managers. The course consists of group work, discussion and powerpoint presentation.

BASIC HEALTH AND SAFETY


About the Course
This training programme has been designed to provide essential knowledge and understanding of health and safety for employees working in any sector of business, whether manufacturing,
commerce, public sector or the service industries. Good health and safety standards rely on employers and employees working together to reduce risks and prevent accidents and ill health arising from work activities.
The Foundation Certificate in Health and Safety aims to provide
employees with health and safety understanding which will enable them to contribute to any health and safety management system.
