OCR New CLAiT

NEW CLAIT 2006
Level 1

CLAiT 2006 is the new qualification from OCR (Oxford, Cambridge & RSA). This is a nationally recognised qualification and over 2 million people in the UK now hold CLAiT certificates, making CLAiT the benchmark qualification in IT.

New CLAiT Level 1 for Beginners

Each unit provides complete coverage of the National Occupational Standards for Using IT (iTQ) and offers clear progression routes. New CLAiT also provides a basis for progression to the NVQs which form part of the iTQ suite (NVQ Levels 1, 2 and 3 for IT Users).

Each unit is individually assessed. To achieve the Certificate a candidate is required to achieve Unit 1 (File Management and e-Document Production) plus 2 optional units. To achieve a Diploma a candidate is required to achieve Unit 1 plus 4 optional units.

Some previous experience of using a computer would prove beneficial.

IT skills have become a requirement for many employers when employing new staff. ECDL is a qualification recognised by most companies both in the UK and Europe. It is specifically
designed for those who wish to gain a basic qualification in computing.

 

BCS Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (ECDL Part 1)

Is designed to give an initial overview of computer use for candidates wishing to gain a
qualification. The qualification is made up of the following modules which have direct mapping to the European Computer Driving Licence for the following modules:

  • Concepts of Information Technology (ECDL module 1)
  • Using the computer and managing files (ECDL module 2)
  • Information and communications (ECDL module 7)

Progressing to:

BCS Level 2 Certificate for IT Users (ECDL Part 2)

Is designed to give a more in depth knowledge and understanding of computer use for
candidates wishing to gain a qualification.

  • Word processing (ECDL module 3)
  • Spreadsheets (ECDL module 4)
  • Databases (ECDL module 5)
  • Presentation (ECDL module 6)
  • Using IT

All 8 modules must be completed and passed before the full award is given.

No prior knowledge of IT is required, however the use of a mouse and a knowledge of

About the Course

Ideal for business and personal use, candidates will learn how set-up a document page with margins, headers and footers and to correctly enter, format and manipulate text. Inserting graphics and text to produce professional and attractive display documents will be demonstrated.

Requirements
No prior knowledge of IT is required, however the use of a mouse and knowledge of Windows would be an advantage.
